Deputy VP, Group Sustainable Development - AIR LIQUIDE

Présentation: Guillaume De Smedt is Deputy VP, Group Sustainability for Air Liquide, in charge of sustainability strategy, with a specific focus on climate mitigation, adaptation and water. In this capacity he in particular leads the design and implementation of the climate transition plan and delivery of climate objectives.
Guillaume joined Air Liquide in 2003 to develop the CCS activities in R&D. He then held several positions in operations and business lines, covering the energy and climate fields which included energy management, gas and power sourcing, CO2 quotas management, energy risk management in operations and for large capital investments. Before joining the Sustainability team in 2020 he was in charge of Energy Transition strategy, also acting as chair of the study task force for the Hydrogen Council. Guillaume graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and holds a PhD in theoretical physics.
Guillaume also serves as co-director of the Technical Expert Panel put together by the International Chamber of Commerce and the Carbon Measures association.
